Lady Indians drop three straight

Creston's Brielle Baker scored early and often on her way to 23 points as Clarke fell to Creston Monday 60-48.

“Our gameplan was just to play our regular zone and to follow her so she can’t get open looks," Clarke girls coach Christa Subbert said about Baker.

The Indians trailed by as much as 15, but couldn't cut the deficit under nine points, as 45-36 was the closest the score got in the second half.

Deseree Stubbe already with 11 points in the first half, exploded for 17 more in the second for 28 points total.

"She started off hot and she kind of stayed that way for us," Subbert said. "Hopefully it boosts her confidence and carries on to our next conference games."

Megan Linskens also helped Clarke stay in the game late in a frantic final few minutes with 13 points.

Clarke previously lost 46-36 at Knoxville Friday and to Chariton 52-39 last Tuesday.

Scoring leaders in the Knoxville game were Linskens (11), Stubbe (8), CeJay Blakely (6) and Nicole Barnard (5).

The loss to Chariton marked Clarke's second loss to the Chargers this season. Linskens scored 11, Stubbe added 10, and Ashlynn Oehlert had seven.
