Larry Frederic Rohr was born Feb. 27, 1938, to Albert and Gladys Pettit Rohr at home with his twin sister on the family farm east of Greenfield and passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Southern Hills Care Center in Osceola at the age of 79.
Larry grew up and graduated from Greenfield schools and worked at SuperValu while in high school. Larry joined the Army and attended Southwestern Community College for auto mechanics, and went to Maryville, Missouri, where he got his science and teaching degree.
Larry married Patricia Reta Ann Richards from Creston on July 20, 1961, and to this union Paul Rohr and Gayla Rohr was born. Larry was a teacher. He taught science at Corning, Murray and Osceola schools. In his spare time, he would help neighbors and friends out with their small engines or if their vehicles broke down. He also helped out the funeral director in Murray and hauled gravel and sand in the summer when not teaching. Larry worked for the city of Murray in the water department for many years and Lakeside Casino before retirement.
Larry is survived by his two children, Paul Rohr of Lorimor and Gayla Rohr of Murray; and his three grandchildren, Cole Kerwin of Osceola and Caleb Kerwin and Carley Kerwin, both of Murray. Larry is also survived by his twin sister Lorraine (Joe) Schneider of Greenfield as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Larry in death was his wife Patricia, sister Kathryn M. Wagner, and his parents.
Larry never knew a stranger and will be missed by many.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with Pastor Brandon Campbell officiating. Family greeted friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home. Private interment services will be in Greenfield Cemetery at a later time.
