The announcement follows an extensive search conducted by Altoona City Council. This search and evaluation process was intricate and collaborative, encompassing interviews with stakeholders, and interviews with the top five applicants. At the conclusion of this process, Jared Ogbourne was identified as the top and preferred applicant unanimously by the selection committee.
“Jared’s experience in managing the day to day operations of a large fire department stood out in his interview. His leadership skills were exactly what the city of Altoona was looking for in our new fire chief. Altoona is a combination fire department with both full time and part time staff. The skills necessary to manage this type of work force are what Jared has developed over many years with his former department. We look forward to Jared leading our fire department into the future.” said Jeff Mark, Altoona’s city administrator.
Ogbourne will begin Dec. 23 with the city. He will be ceremonially sworn in Jan. 2.
