John Daniel Webb, 88, of Osceola died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.

Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. J.R. Wheeler officiating. Visitation with family present was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home. Interment followed in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. John Daniel Webb, son of John “Jap” Japtha Webb and Juanita May (Robins) Webb, was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Decatur County. As a boy, John attended Leroy and Hebron schools. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1947. After graduation, he farmed and worked construction.

On Oct. 7, 1950, John married Betty Lou Horton in Osceola. John and Betty rented farms near Murray for a couple of years, until Dec. 26, 1951, when John received notice to report to the U.S. Army. John reported on Jan. 7, 1952, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. John returned to Iowa and returned to farming and raising cattle, renting land until he purchased land in 1970. John farmed and continued to live on the farm.

John attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and served 35 years as a director of Clarke County State Bank.

John is survived by his daughter Dana Webb of Kansas City, Missouri; grandsons, Chase (Shelly) Miller of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Shadoe (Shelby) Miller of Grant City, Missouri; grandchildren, Oliver and Lila; brother Jerry (Sharon) Webb of Osceola; sisters, Wilma Helms of Old Fort, North Carolina, and Lola (Everett) Carson of Johnston; sisters-in-law Loraine Brimm of Osceola and Anne (Dwaine) Welker of Murray; brother-in-law Bob (Janet) Horton of St. Louis, Missouri; as well as other relatives and many friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou Webb; parents, John “Jap” and Juanita May Webb and brother James “Jim” Webb.
