Clarke bowling marked the start of the winter season with several nights for the record books in wins on the girls and boys sides both.

The Indians knocked off Lenox and Oskalooa in Osceola Monday, as Brock Bucy’s 513 seriess (257, 256) was four pins off the previous record of Damon Helgevold in 2014-2015.

Kacie Schieler’s 426 series (202, 224) was one of the best marks in girls program history.

The boys won with 2,608 pins to Oskaloosa’s 2,522 and Lenox’s 2,111.

The Indian girls squad emerged victorious with 2,314 pins. Oskaloosa knocked down 2,120 and Lenox registered a total of 1,776.

“This was one of our best opening day performances that I recall,” coach Dale Helgevold said. “We had two outstanding performances.”

“All in all, I am pleased with how both teams performed tonight,” Helgevold said. “We do have some work to do with a lot of makeable spares left unconverted but the season is young. For both teams to come away from tonight with 1-0 records is obviously a great start.”

Clarke next competes at Centerville on Dec. 7.
