Glen Robert Beals, 83, of Ravenwood Care Initiatives in Waterloo died Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1934, in Earlham, son of Isaac and Edith Van Cleave Beals. Glen graduated from Osceola High School in 1954 and attended Hawkeye Community College in 1968 to be a machinist.
Glen was a vault maker at Garden of Memories Cemetery from 1970-78, the groundskeeper for KWWLTV from 1981-88 and the maintenance person at Walnut Court Apartments from 1988 until his retirement in 1995.
He had been a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church since moving to Waterloo in 1968. Glen enjoyed watching hockey and following his favorite teams.
Glen is survived by a brother, Everett and his wife Ruth of Chariton and two sisters, Laura Ripperger of Milo and Doris Marie Frazier and her husband Robert of Indianola. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, 1307 W. Ridgeway Ave., in Waterloo with burial in Murray Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.
