Ferna Joyce (Worm) Reynolds, 83, of Indianola died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Ferna, daughter of Fred Davis Worm and Zelma Ann (Leeper) Worm, was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Rockwell City. She grew up with her family in Newell, Melcher, Indianola and Peru, and graduated from Winterset High School. She worked after high school for Northwestern Bell Telephone for seven years.
On April 27, 1958, Joyce married Robert Reynolds and moved to the farm in New Virginia. She worked seasonally for Comito Apple Orchard in Cumming for 14 years, McDonald’s in Indianola and was a rural mail carrier in New Virginia.
Joyce was a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Women’s Relief Corps and New Virginia Garden Club.
Joyce is survived by her brother Leroy Worm; sister Marlene Behrens; sons, Dan (Ranee) Reynolds of Rockwell City and Martin (Jo) Reynolds of Indianola; grandchildren, Clayton (Tonya) Reynolds, Adam (Sarah Jo) Reynolds, Heidi (Nathan) Gruis, Blake Reynolds, Allison (Dillon) Cunningham and Brandon Reynolds; and great-grandchildren, Cole and Ava Reynolds, Ty and Tillie Reynolds, Stella Gruis, and Dayton and Dominic Cunningham.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Roger Dean and husband Robert.
