Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, on Interstate 35.

Alexandra Rene Willhite, 18, of Parkville, Missouri, was driving a 2008 Ford south on Interstate 35. She slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting another vehicle and lost control of her car, striking the cable barrier. Vehicle 2 continued on and was not located.

Damage estimates are $3,500 to Willhite’s vehicle and $1,000 to the barrier.

No citations were issued after an accident 3:31 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, on U.S. Highway 69.

Christina Nicole Adams-Brown, 33, of Indianola was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson north on Highway 69 in the 1100 block when she failed to make a left curve, left the roadway and entered the ditch.

Adams-Brown was transported to Clarke County Hospital via ground ambulance.

Damage estimate is $2,000.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:38 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the 2900 block of U.S. Highway 34.

Bernard Joseph Schade, 72, of Osceola was driving a 2009 Chevrolet west on Highway 34 when a deer entered the roadway. Schade was unable to stop in time to avoid an accident.

Damage estimate is $800.

Georgie Corwin Cox, 77, of Grand River was given a warning for failing to yield the right of way from a stop sign after an accident 3:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the intersection of East Eddy Parkway and U.S. Highway 34.

Cox, driving a 2003 Dodge, was at the stop sign at Southwest Boulevard and turned east onto Highway 34. Joel Steven Zavala, 23, of Ducanville, Texas, was driving a 2018 Freightliner east on the highway, and clipped Cox’s vehicle as he made the turn. Cox said he thought Zavala was in the left lane.

Damage estimate is $1,600 to Cox’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Pilot Travel Center.

Lance Theodis Ellis, 56, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was backing a 2015 Kentworth into a parking space when his vehicle made contact with a legally parked 2018 Freightliner.

Damage estimate is $1,000 to the parked vehicle.

Alexis Savannah Grow, 17, of Osceola was cited for failure to maintain control after an accident 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the intersection of South Main Street and East McLane Street.

Grow, driving a 1993 Jeep, had just filled her tank at Casey’s General Store and pulled out of the east exit onto Highway 69/South Main Street. She looked behind her car to check on a potential leak and ran into the back of a 2007 Ford driven by Asa Stewart Melciah Kenoyer, 29, of Cumming, who was waiting at the stoplight.

Damages estimates are $1,000 to Grow’s vehicle and $1,500 to Kenoyer’s vehicle.
