I-35 sees tough competition at WCV

Fitzgerald, Parish lead Roadrunners

MENLO — Interstate 35’s cross country team got in its first action of the season Thursday at the 5 by 80 Golf & Country Club.

Wyatt Fitzgerald led the boys with an 11th-place finish, and Lizzy Parrish led the Roadrunner girls with her 12th-place finish.

The Roadrunner boys took sixth place as the Nodaway Valley boys team easily won the meet.

The Roadrunner girls did not field enough runners to yield a team score, as Panorama won the team meet.

“There were a lot of debuts out there today, and I thought they looked really strong for it being the first meet of the season,” I-35 coach Desman Oakley said.
