Accidents

Christopher Michael Showers, 40, of Osceola was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn after an accident 4:42 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at South Main Street and McLane Street.

Showers was driving a 1995 GMC south on South Main Street, and turned left to enter the parking lot of Casey’s General Store. He did not see the 1982 Ford driven by Duane Gregory Anderson, 54, of Davis City, headed north. Anderson struck the rear of Shower’s vehicle, pushing it into a third car waiting to exit the parking lot, a 2007 Nissan driven by Michael Aaron Easter, 29, of Indianola.

Damage estimates are $2,000 to Showers’ vehicle, $1,000 to Anderson’s vehicle and $3,000 to Easter’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 4:04 p.m. Thursday, July 27, in the Fareway Parking Lot.

Naya Raj Baral, 47, of Fairfield, driving a 2011 Toyota, backed out of a parking space and struck a legally parked 2013 Ford and its owner, who was putting groceries into the trunk. The owner was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment.

Damage estimates are $500 to Baral’s vehicle and $500 to the parked vehicle.

Terence Alan Havlik, 20, of Osceola was cited for failure to yield upon entering through highway after an accident 7:46 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the intersection of Interstate 35 and West Clay Street.

Havlik, driving a 2004 Cadillac, turned off of Interstate 35 into the path of Gabriel James Gard, 19, of Murray, who was not able to stop in time and struck the rear of Havlik’s vehicle. No one was injured in the collision.

Damage estimates are $4,000 to Havlik’s vehicle and $2,000 to Gard’s vehicle.
