Accidents

Officers are still investigating a hit-and-run 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, on Interstate 35.

Officers were called to the Casye’s General Store near Interstate 35 by Tawk Zel, 29, of Clive, who was driving a 2006 Nissan south near the casino when he was rearended by a white car with a license plate of possibly 903HWG or 903HWD. (The plate information was not found on file.) Zel took Exit 33 to Casey’s and the two parties spoke about exchanging information. The white car left when Zel attempted to call police.

Damage estimate is $1,500.

Barry Curtis Hall, 63, of Osceola was cited for operating without required equipment after an accident 8:40 p.m. Monday, July 17, at 117 Mateer Dr.

Hall was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile when he knew the brakes weren’t working. He attempted to pull into a parking spot and the vehicle went over the curb, striking someone in a motorized wheelchair. The owner of the wheelchair refused medical attention but said the wheelchair would not operate correctly after the accident. Officers observed a bent fender on the wheelchair and minor paint transfer.

Damage estimates are $500 to the vehicle and $1,000 to the wheelchair.
