TRURO – Interstate 35 exploded for nine runs in the fifth inning here June 29 on its way to a 14-4 win over Pleasantville in Pride of Iowa Conference action.
Carlyn Stanley picked up the win in the circle, giving up four runs on six hits and five walks with five strikeouts.
Kate Stanley smashed the ball at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and six runs batted in to lead the Roadrunner charge. Slye Richardson doubled and drove in three runs.
Carlyn Stanley added a solo home run of her own. Lilly Miller was 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with three runs scored and one RBI. Olivia Carlson also drove in one run.
Interstate 35 13, East Union 0
AFTON – Carlyn Stanley struck out 11 and pitched a perfect game here Friday in a 13-0 win over East Union.
The Roadrunners finished the regular season with a record of 23-4.
Kate Stanley kept her hot streak going at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring two runs and driving in three. Slye Richardson finished 3-for-4 with with a double, triple and three RBI.
Riley Morris homered and drove in three runs, while Shai Major finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Josie Wicket was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and a double.
Interstate 35 opened Class 2A Region 8 play Wednesday against either Nodaway Valley or West Central Valley and, with a win in that game, hosts the winner of Earlham and Van Meter 7 p.m. Friday in the regional semifinal.

Central Decatur 4
LEON – Lenox scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning here Friday to secure a 7-4 win over Central Decatur.
Lily Simon took the loss for Central Decatur with five strikeout sand no walks.
Grace Martin hit a solo home run for Central Decatur, while Emma Atwood was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Daryn Nowlin doubled and drove in one run.
