Mosaic Track & Field Day 2017

Allowing people with disabilities to shine in sports is an opportunity for them to live the life many of us take for granted.

Track and Field Day has become an annual event for the people Mosaic supports in South Central Iowa. Guardians, friends and family were invited to attend and share in the activities Friday, June 30, at the Clarke High School track.

More than 70 people attended the event, in which events ranged from the 100 meter dash to a shoe kick competition. First- and second-place competitors won special awards, but everyone was given recognition for participation.

Hy-Vee of Osceola donated lunch, something they’ve done for Mosaic for this event the past two years. Athletes enjoyed hot dogs, chips and cookies.

Although the people we support are reminded of their disabilities every day, last Friday was very meaningful as contestants became part of a larger community caring and rooting for them to succeed.
