Thursday Night in the Park kicks off June 1

The first Thursday Night in the Park is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Osceola Courthouse Lawn & North Parking Lot. Join Clarke County Hospital, Parks and Recreation and numerous community and law enforcement organizations for a fun-filled night where curious kids and their parents will discover the secrets to staying safe all summer long.

“We’re looking to get as many kids as possible because we’re giving away bike helmets and free fittings,” said Zach Woods with Clarke County Hospital.

The experience won’t stop with lectures. A variety of groups situated across the courthouse lawn will have interactive stations families can participate in to learn new skills and have a great time.

“We’re going to have a bike rodeo or bike obstacle course to help teach children bike safety. Parent teachers will talk about car seat safety. The police will be there going through the obstacle course with the kids,” said Woods. “The fire department will be there to go over grain bin safety — a lot of different things and a lot of different vendors.”

It’s the perfect opportunity to kick summer off on a safe note.
