Saylor Realty celebrates 40 influential years

Saylor Realty celebrated its 40th anniversary Friday, May 19th, at the office at 320 W McLane St. Helen Saylor-Kimes and her late husband, Eddy Saylor, opened the real estate agency on the Osceola square in 1974.

Many businesses last twice that long without making as big of an impact. The realty was at the heart of deals involving some of the biggest businesses in Osceola. Now remarried to Gary Kimes, Helen is optomistic .

“It’s been a wonderful 40 years,” she said, “and we’re looking forward to the next 40 or however long we keep going.”

To be clear, the real estate maven has no plans for stopping anytime soon. Thanks to the Clarke County Development Corporation’s recent development initiative, Saylor Realty is suprisingly busy.

“We’re excited to see some new building coming on in Country Club Manor. We have lots available there, as well as in the Meadows,” she said. “It’s been a real boost for that. It is difficult to get new builders to come to communities our size.”

More than talking shop, Saylor-Kimes wanted to discuss the outpouring of support from the rest of the community. From flowers to visits and cards from friends, she couldn’t stop thanking fellow business owners, associates and friends for making everyone at Saylor Realty feel appreciated.

“We had a fantastic time—had a fantastic turnout, even with all the complications with graduation,” she noted. “Not only did I appreciate everybody come, we had people who sent cards and flowers if they couldn’t be here. All of those things are very special to me.”
