Bruce McClaflin, 117 E. Ayers St., reported a double-pane window was broken out of the Osceola Can & Bottle Redemption Center.

Damage estimate is $200.

Molly Carns of Truro reported theft of a wallet containing cash, debit and tax card between 6 and 10 a.m. Monday, May 15, at Southern Hills Specialty Care.

Loss estimate is $45.

Tara Kay Draper, 25, 631 E. Ayers St. Apt. B6, was charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at her residence.

According to an Osceola Police report, Draper was attempting to prevent an individual from leaving the residence during a disagreement. In the process, Draper bit the individual, causing a red mark.

Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety bond.

David Leroy Gonzales, 51, of Lorimor was taken into custody on a Polk County warrant for failure to register as a sex offender, a second offense 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Clay Street and 218th Avenue.

Bond is not known.

Richard Eugene Curtis, 69, of Des Moines was charged with operating while under the influence first offense 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the intersection of Warren Avenue and West McLane Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, an officer observed Curtis driving a 1981 Dodge with a trailer attached that was driving on a blown out tire. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed Curtis’ slow, slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes, a beer bottle on the floor board and some in a cooler next to the driver’s seat. The officer requested the driver’s license and Curtis handed him his insurance card. Standard field sobriety testing, preliminary breath testing and Data Master testing was offered and refused. When asked to step out of the vehicle, Curtis had an unsteady gate.

Curtis was released on $100 cash bond.

April Michelle Nehls, 43, of West Des Moines was charged with operating while under the influence first offense 1:45 a.m. Friday, May 19, at the Law Enforcement Center.

According to an Osceola Police report, Nehls was operating a 2001 Ford on Interstate 35 in Clarke County when she was called in for erratic driving. Officers found her at the northbound rest area sitting in the driver’s seat with the car running, noticed signs of impairment and asked Nehls to perform field sobriety testing, which she failed. Nehls submitted to a preliminary breath test which showed no alcohol present, and a drug recognition expert was called to do an evaluation. The expert rendered an opinion that Nehls was under the influence of a controlled substance, impaired and unable to operate a motor vehicle safely.

Nehls was released on a $1,000 surety bond.

Tyler Merl Jonsson, 23, 117 N. Park St., and Michael James Malone, 19, of Leon were each charged with one count drug possession/delivery and one count failure to affix a drug stamp 10:23 p.m. Friday, May 19, in the 100 block of East Ayers Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Jonsson was driving a 2004 Ford when he was stopped for a traffic violation. The officer observed green plant material believed to be marijuana in the driver’s door handle area. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a total of approximately 109 grams of green plant material and several baggies. There was no drug tax stamp present. Jonsson was the driver and is the owner of the vehicle. Neither claimed ownership of the plant material, but it was in reach of them both.

Bond is set at $10,000 for Jonsson and $10,000 for Malone.
