Career Opportunities Brought to the Clarke Ag Room: At Clarke High School there is a period in the day specifically designed for corresponding with teachers for either a little extra help or enrichment activities. This period is called the win-win period, which takes place during sixth hour everyday at Clarke High School. Each day is specifically designed for certain teachers to pull kids to their room and get one on one interaction. Mrs. Boyd, the Ag Instructor at Clarke High School, has been using this period to bring in guest speakers to talk to the students about potential career paths or tips on writing a resume. The speakers have been from various agricultural businesses around town including ALTEC and Osceola Foods, along with DuPont Pioneer out of Johnston. Mike Gaul, from Iowa State University’s Career Services Office, also spoke through video conferencing about creating a professional resume. These speakers have been very beneficial to the students in learning about different career opportunities and ways they can prepare themselves as high school students to compete for those careers.
