Murray student earns Master’s degree from Northwestern College

ORANGE CITY — Tacy Vogel completed a Master of Education degree from Northwestern College this semester and was among 46 graduate students to be recognized during commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 13.

Dr. Rick Melmer, director of Leadership South Dakota and a member of Northwestern’s Board of Trustees, gave the commencement address. Internationally renowned opera star Simon Estes was awarded an honorary doctorate.

Vogel, of Murray, graduated with a master’s degree in early childhood from Northwestern College.

Northwestern’s M.Ed. program offers instruction in five tracks —early childhood, early childhood + endorsement, master teacher, special education and teacher leadership—that are designed to be completed in two years or less. The program exists entirely online and qualifies graduates for positions like lead teachers, peer coaches, and jobs at AEAs, colleges and nonprofit educational organizations. It is ranked second among the nation’s Top Low-Cost Online Master’s Programs by BestMasterDegrees.com and third on a list of the nation’s 25 Most Affordable Online Master of Education Leadership and Administrative Degrees by AffordableSchools.net.
