Iowa Pride scholarship makes attending private college a reality

OSKALOOSA — William Penn University, like many other private colleges in the state, continues to find unique ways to attract Iowa students. They’ve invested in their curriculum, made the programs more flexible with daytime, evening and nontraditional classes and focused on developing the campus culture to be a meaningful, purposeful experience. To celebrate William Penn University’s legacy of educational opportunities, they’re offering a new scholarship to Iowa high school seniors enrolling in traditional coursework at the Oskaloosa campus. If eligible, the student will pay $5,000 or less for tuition for the 2017-18 school year.

“At William Penn University, our mission of open hearts and open minds isn’t simply a set of goals we hope to achieve. It’s who we are at our very core. It’s the belief that every individual has value and deserves access to a quality education,” says William Penn President John Ottosson.

William Penn offers a broad range of STEM programs including programs in computer science, engineering and nursing. Its combination of daytime, evening and online classes is complemented by a second campus in Clive. The campus experience at WPU is inclusive, welcoming, and historic. The private college environment is competitive right now and William Penn is boldly attracting prospective students.

“One of the things education has discovered over the last 30 years is we all learn differently. We’re trying to provide an educational opportunity so that the students can match what their best learning style is,” says Ottosson.

William Penn University Admissions is still accepting applications for the Fall 2017 term. To qualify for the Iowa Pride Scholarship, the student must graduate from an Iowa high school with at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA, be an Iowa resident, file FAFSA by July 1 and enroll at William Penn University as a full-time student in the fall.
