Electrified learning: Interstate 35 junior Ally Bedwell has won an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C.  Each Year, Clarke Electric and electric cooperatives all across the country hold local contests to select a high school student to represent them at the Annual National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Washington D.C. Youth Tour. Almost 1,600 kids will descend on Washington June 9 – 15th .  They will enjoy a river cruise on the Potomac and visit many of the wonderful monuments and museums. They will walk the lawns at Mt. Vernon, George Washington’s home. Clarke Electric has been sending kids to Washington D.C. since 1958. They hold a contest each March. The winner will have demonstrated a great understanding of the “Seven Cooperative Principles” that guide the decisions of an electric cooperative. Ally is the daughter of Jerry and Angie Bedwell, New Virginia.
