Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at 198th Avenue and Clarke Decatur Street.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff report, Cory Lewis Chew, 43, of Osceola, driving a 2002 Dodge, was traveling west on Clarke Decatur Street when his wheels got too close to the edge of the roadway. His vehicle entered the ditch and rolled onto its top.

Chew, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured in the crash.

Damage estimate is $10,000.

Tina Marie Walters, 51, of Osceola was cited for defective braking equipment after an accident 3:35 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in the 500 block of South Temple Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Walters, driving a 2001 Buick, was en route to a friend’s house to install new brake pads when she headed down Temple Street at Highway 34, and the brakes went out in her vehicle. The Buick traveled down Temple Street, ramped the curb, went airborne, landed in the grass and came to rest after hitting a tree.

Walters showed officers proof of insurance and said the brakes had been in bad shape for about a week.

Damage estimate is $3,000.

No citations were issued after an accident 9:19 a.m. Sunday, March 19, on South Main Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Katelynn Grace VanGundy, 18, of Osceola was driving a 2000 Ford behind Gene Allen Cameron, 41, or Osceola, who was towing farm equipment behind a 2008 Chevrolet. Cameron slowed down to turn right. VanGundy did not stop in time, hitting Cameron’s vehicle from behind.

Damage estimates are $2,500 for VanGundy’s vehicle and $1,500 for Cameron’s vehicle.
