Bakley joins extension office staff

Mallory Bakley, daughter of John and Dory Bakley of Osceola, recently joined the staff of the local Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach office as their new County Youth and Outreach Coordinator. Bakley graduates from ISU in May with a bachelor’s in animal science.

“I grew up in Clarke County. I graduated from Clarke,” Bakley said.

Bakley’s father works at Paul Meuller while her mother works at the hospital. Backley’s younger sister, Vanessa, will graduate from Clarke High School in May and is headed off to Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa.

How is the hometown girl spending her first weeks at the office?

“I’m getting familiarized with the 4H program and all the programming going on in Clarke County,” she said.

She’s looking forward to future events, like the Clarke County Fair in July, and she does have a fair amount of experience to go on.

“I was in 4H from fourth through 12th grade,” Bakley said, but she isn’t sure what exact approach she’ll be taking. “We try to be very diverse.”
