Police and fire service report

Osceola Police officers responded to 426 calls for service in January. That is similar to December. The ice storm did not cause problems, but we were prepared. Officers also initiated 155 contacts, an increase from December. Officers investigated eight accidents, issued 52 citations (two of which were violating the one-way at the elementary school and resulted in three other citations) and 61 written warnings, as well as 27 verbal warnings. Officers made 28 arrests in January.

In January, the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department responded to two car wrecks, three alarm calls, two grass fires, one down power line and one ambulance assist. The nine calls involved 40 man hours. The department also engaged in 27 hours of monthly maintenance and 60 hours of training.
