American State Bank announces new hire

Kevin W. Klemesrud, president and CEO, American State Bank, is pleased to announce the hiring of Ethan Abbott as assistant vice president/loan officer.

“We are all excited to be able to hire a talented individual like Ethan,” Klemesrud stated. “His local ties, formal ag business education, and working experience and knowledge in agriculture will all aid in his future success. His ability to immediately be familiar with our clients and their needs is a great benefit to everyone.”

Ethan began employment in January of 2017 and his duties are primarily to serve customer lending needs in the bank’s Southern Iowa trade area, focusing on Clarke and adjacent counties. He most recently was employed as location manager for Landus Cooperative in Earlham, focusing on managing the grain and agronomy facility at that location.

Abbott graduated from Clarke High School in 2009 and received his B.S. degree in Agricultural Business from Northwest Missouri State University in August of 2012. He and his wife, Amanda, have one child, Riley, and they all reside on a farm near Murray and operate a cow/calf farming operation. Amanda is employed as a third-grade elementary teacher at Murray Community School District.

Ethan stated, “I am excited to be part of the American State Bank team with the ability to help serve the community I grew up in. I look forward to helping customers reach their financial goals and receive the same level of service they have grown accustomed to through the years.”

American State Bank is a $195 million in assets, locally owned state of Iowa chartered bank with locations in Osceola, Lamoni and Winterset.
