Accidents

No citations were issued following an accident 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, on Ridge Road.

According to an Osceola Police report, a 2005 Nissan driven by Jannice Marie Taylor, 42, of Osceola went off the road while the driver was attempting to put on her seatbelt. The driver attempted to pull out of the ditch, but the vehicle slid sideways and then rolled onto its top.

Taylor was transported to Clarke County Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Des Moines.

Damage estimate is $15,000.

No citations were issued or charges filed following an accident 12:29 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at 316 S. Park St.

According to an Osceola Police report, a 2001 Dodge driven by Nathan Lee McAtee, 35, of Woodburn was headed south on Park Street when the driver, distracted by a child playing at the side of the road, struck a second child he did not see playing in the street.

The child was transported to Clarke County Hospital by ground ambulance and a short time later transferred to Des Moines via air ambulance.

Jessica Ann Marie Snyder, 28, of Osceola was cited for failure to carry insurance after an accident 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Casey’s General Store, 100 W. McLane St.

According to an Osceola Police report, a 1998 Chevrolet driven by Snyder was backing out of a parking space at Casey’s when it struck a 2015 Chrysler driven by Diana Robin Rose, 51, of Chariton.

Damages estimates are $100 for Snyder’s vehicle and $7,500 for Rose’s vehicle.

Daniel Dean Simmerman, 23, of Murray was cited for failure to carry insurance after an accident 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, on Jeffreys Drive.

According to an Osceola Police report, a 2000 Isuzu driven by Simmerman was heading east on Highway 34 at Warren Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle due to snow-covered roads. The vehicle entered the ditch and struck a parked, unoccupied directional boring machine. Attempts to contact the owner of the machinery were unsuccessful.

Damage estimates are $6,000 to Simmerman’s vehicle and $30,000 to the boring machine.
