Students study nutrition, connection between people and animals

Society is aware of the need for good nutrition at every age to be healthy and happy. Also, farmers are aware of the need for good nutrition for animals in their care to be healthy and happy.

Carissa McFarland and Diane Hamilton from United Farmers Cooperative in Osceola brought along four tubs of animal feed and discussed six classes of nutrients that are needed to help children grow and animals grow with the third-graders. They asked the students what they eat in each category and showed them what animals need in each category. This helped them identify a connection between people and animals’ food needs.
