Rep. Joel Fry among legislators honored by long-term services and supports profession

DES MOINES – Rep. Joel Fry was among a group of state legislators honored by Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) and its divisions, Iowa Center for Assisted Living (ICAL) and Iowa Center for Home Care (ICHC), in appreciation of outstanding service in support of quality, long-term services and supports for Iowans.

The IHCA Outstanding Service Award presentations took place at the annual IHCA Convention and Trade Show Sept. 26-27 held in Des Moines. The convention was attended by approximately 1,200 long-term services and supports administrators, owners, nurses and dietary, activity, environmental and social services staff, as well as business associates from across Iowa.

“As Iowa’s aging population places a greater demand on our state’s providers of rehabilitation, post-acute care and support services, these legislators have shown they understand the importance of supporting services for Iowa’s frail and elderly,” said Steve Ackerson, IHCA President and CEO. “With the launch of managed care and state and federal funding challenges, their understanding and genuine concern for Iowa’s vulnerable seniors and those who care for them is vital to the continuation of quality improvement and access to services for all Iowans.”

Located in West Des Moines, IHCA, ICAL and ICHC are a nonprofit trade association representing more than 730 nursing homes, assisted living programs, home health agencies, residential care facilities and senior-living communities in Iowa. They are affiliated with American Health Care Association, National Center for Assisted Living and National Association for Home Care and Hospice.
