Murray FFA Chapter has busy fall

The Murray FFA Chapter has had a busy fall. The last weekend in August, six members traveled to Iowa State University to compete in state Career Development Events (CDEs).

Two students, Dustin Teas and Zoie Lecy, competed in livestock judging. Gabe Gard, Brandi Gilbert, Haylee Beals and Quentin Siefkas received eighth place in the milk and dairy products judging CDE.

The soil-judging team traveled to Leon for sub-districts, then to districts in Knoxville to compete against 28 other FFA chapters in the south-central district. The team placed sixth at sub-district and 16th at district. The members of the soil-judging team were four of the sophomores in Ag II- Plant Science: Kayla Wookey, Bre Klein, Andrew Davis and Haylee Beals.

All FFA members attended the South Central CDE Day in Osceola where students were able to perfect their CDE skills. More than 800 students were at this event to compete in various CDEs. The highlight of the event for Murray FFA was, again, the milk and dairy products judging CDE. As a team, Murray FFA placed second and Kia Eriksen placed fourth as an individual. On the team were Kia Eriksen, Haylee Beals, Rebecca Decker and Brandi Gilbert.

Up next for Murray FFA is the national convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
