Clarke County Hospital receives Iowa Donor Network LEGACI award for education

Clarke County Hospital in Osceola has been awarded the Iowa Donor Network (IDN) LEGACI Award for Education.

LEGACI stands for Leadership, Education, Gratitude, Advocacy, Clinical Excellence and Innovation. LEGACI Awards are given in each of these categories to IDN partners that go above and beyond to collaborate with IDN and help them ensure that they fulfill their mission of “Working Together to Transform Lives Through Organ and Tissue Donation.”

When considering which of IDN’s partner agencies meet the criteria for the LEGACI Award for Education, IDN staff looked for agencies that demonstrate a commitment to improving performance of donation referrals and/or donor management through education and staff skill improvement and that maintain on-going, up-to-date education for all staff members.

Iowa Donor Network recognized that Clarke County Hospital is committed to improving their performance of donation referrals by implementing mandatory education for all nursing and EMS professionals in the hospital on an annual basis.

From 2014 to 2015, key annual report data shows great improvement in Appropriate Requestor Rates (50 percent in 2014 to 100 percent in 2015) and Tissue Conversion Rates (13 percent in 2014 to 40 percent in 2015).

CCH was recognized for being committed to improving and maintaining the skills of staff and offering donation opportunities to all families.

“Congratulations to the Clarke County Hospital clinical staff. I am very proud of your dedication and commitment in helping the Iowa Donor Network fulfill their mission,” said Erin Dykes, associate chief nursing officer.
