Persia Joann DeVore Eagleville, Mo.

Persia Joann DeVore, 77, of Eagleville, Missouri, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Leon Cemetery in Leon with Lisa Stobbe officiating. A BBQ lunch will follow at the campground shelter at Little River Lake in Leon. Arrangements were through the Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 103 NE Mill St., in Leon.

Persia Joann DeVore, daughter of Russell Vernon and Frances Lillian (Winter) Tolly, was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Clarke County. Joann graduated from high school in Osceola. She then attended college in Colorado.

She was married and blessed with daughter, Donna. Joann worked as a claims specialist for American Republic Insurance Company in Des Moines and retired from there. In 2004, Joann moved to Eagleville, Missouri, to be closer to her daughter and her family.

In earlier years she was a member of the Osceola Saddle Club.

Joann is survived by her daughter Donna (Randy) Abell of Eagleville, Missouri; grandsons, Tysen Abell and Brody Abell (friend Courtney), all of Eagleville, Missouri; brother Dan “Ike” (Cathy) Tolly of Oskaloosa; nephews, Jerrid and Krista Tolly, Marshall Tolly (fiancée Julie) and Steve and Tara Tolly; cousins and other relatives and friends.

Joann is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.
