Marjorie Anne Kooiker, daughter of Gwendolyn (Bardon) Coombs and Harold Coombs, was born February 8, 1927, in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

Anne graduated from high school in East Orange, New Jersey, and attended secretarial college.

On June 27, 1953, Anne married Paul Ivan Kooiker in New Jersey. Anne worked for the foreign services as a secretary for the U.S. Consulate in Hamburg, Germany. Anne and Paul lived in Erie, Pennsylvania; Louisville, Kentucky; and Cedar Rapids before moving to Osceola in 1974. They came to Osceola as leaders in the Inner Peace Movement and managed the Elms Motel for years. Anne later worked at the Clarke County Hospital until her retirement.

She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary Board and volunteered many hours at the hospital. She also assisted with Osceola Children’s Theatre, making posters and working with the children, who all called her “Grandma Anne.” She enjoyed all things involving her family, especially when they could all get together, and she would cook, bake and make things special. She loved when she was able to spend time with her grandchildren, attend their activities and play board games with the family.

Anne is survived by her sons, David (Christine) Kooiker of Holland, Michigan, John (Kathy) Kooiker of Osceola and Joseph (Angela) Kooiker of Nevada; grandchildren, Paul Kooiker of Seattle, Washington, Thomas Kooiker of Juno, Alaska, Susie (Jason) Hennigan of Abingdon, Virginia, Samantha Kooiker of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Brandee (Brandon) Bogue of Chillicothe, Missouri, Chelsea (Josh) Claude of Bondurant, Ryan Kooiker of Nevada, Justin Kooiker of Nevada and Caleb Kooiker of Nevada; great-grandson, Brayden Hennigan of Abingdon, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Joan Coombs of Wayne, New Jersey, and Winnefred Kooiker of Holland, Michigan; cousins, Kenneth Coombs of Grand Junction, Colorado and Hugh (Peggy) Coombs of Hallstead, Pennsylvania; and other relatives and many friends.
