Osceola student competes at Phi Beta Lambda nationals

The Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) student business organization represented Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Urban Campus recently at the National Leadership Conference held June 24-27 in Atlanta.

Students earned the opportunity to compete at the national level by placing first or second in their respective event during the State Leadership Conference held in April. The students, accompanied by their adviser Joe Hanson, competed against other college students from across the U.S. in various business related events.

Students participating included Carlos Tamayo of Osceola and Deviance Green of Ankeny.

Tamayo competed in the sales presentation, future business executive category and Green took part in the justice administration. Organizational behavior and leadership category.

In addition to the competitive events, students had the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops on topics related to their educational and career pursuits.
