David Lee Hobbs of Weldon reported a Dune buggy, VW motor, two fenders and one hood for a 1973 Chevrolet Nova were taken from a farm building between midnight June 12 and 7 p.m. June 19.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, another car had been moved in what appeared to be an attempt to get that vehicle out of the building, also. Hobbs is making a list of other items that were also missing, as well as bringing the title to the Dune buggy to the sheriff’s office.

Loss estimate is $3,300.

On June 24, a woman reported she had been assaulted at her residence in Murray by Herbert Ralph Williams at approximately 11 a.m. April 24.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, the woman said Williams grabbed both of her arms and was yelling at her about where she had been that day. As a result of Williams’ actions, the woman had pictures of bruises and red marks on both of her arms.

Charges have been filed on Williams for assault.

Charity Alice Arnett of Lubbock, Texas, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of prescription drugs noon June 26.

Arnett was released from Clarke County Jail by the courts.

Robert Lee Rosenbalm of Woodburn reported someone had entered his property without permission between June 18 and June 25 and taken a 1995 Yamaha motorcycle 80CC.

Loss estimate is $1,500.

Frank Kevin Thompson Jr., 24, of Ottumwa was charged with probation violation noon June 29.

The original date of the offense is May 10.

Thompson was being held in Clarke County Jail waiting to appear in court on the charges.

On June 28, Ron and Virginia Ogan of Osceola reported a driveway seal coat scam.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Virginia Ogan hired two men to seal coat and resurface. The Ogans paid the men in cash for the project. The two men sprayed a rubber coating on the driveway and promised to return.

The Ogans have called the number given to them several times to ask when they were returning to finish the job. They haven’t been able to make contact with the men. The two men were driving a new red Dodge pickup and the vehicle had a gas-fired heating applicator in the box of the pickup.

Loss estimate is $1,600.
