Meet your Clarke County Fair Queen candidates

These are the candidates for Clarke County Fair Queen. The fair is planned July 19-25.

Trinity Miler

Miler, 16, of Osceola is the daughter of Krystal and Hank Miler. She is sponsored by Fremont Feenix 4-H club. Her escort is Colby Wilken.

Miler attends Clarke Community High School. Her high school activities include being an FFA chapter officer, FCCLA chapter, district and state officer, book club, CCOPS, student council, cheerleading for wrestling and football, former football and basketball manager and NAHS secretary of robotics.

Her other community activities include volunteering with Americorps, being a member of Murray and New Virginia Saddle Club, member of Youth Council Freemont Feenix and member of Clarke County Youth Rodeo.

Miler’s special awards include MVP for FCCLA in 2015 and 2016, GPA award for 2015 and 2016, being elected FCCLA state executive council and the 2014 Senior Cowgirl Queen.

Her hobbies include hunting, fishing, riding horses, showing cattle, spending time with friends and family, training her puppy and horse, working with livestock, cooking with her mother, organizing everything she can and barrel-racing.

In October 2015, Miler received her CNA license. She hopes to become a traveling nurse and see the world after going to college in Missouri.

Maeci Marie Baumfalk

Baumfalk, 17, of Murray is the daughter of Jaci Smith and Terry Baumfalk. She is sponsored by Billie’s Army (Fighting Gastroparesis One Day At a Time). Her escort is Zabe Hatfield.

Baumfalk attends Murray High School. Her high school activities include basketball, softball, FFA, FNA and student council. She is currently the FFA secretary and a former FFA reporter.

Her other community activities include 4-H, and she is currently the vice president of the Triple Troopers 4-H club. She has run 4-H workshops, helps at youth church and with Murray majors softball team.

Her special awards include the honor roll, softball letter, FFA sweetheart candidate, chapter FFA degree and FFA state award. She has won several awards and ribbons for rabbit showing, photography and projects at Clarke County Fair.

Her hobbies include fishing, hunting, dancing and listening to music.

Alyssa Jackson

Jackson, 16, of Van Wert is the daughter of Bob and Glenda Jackson. She is sponsored by Osceola Big Chief FFA chapter. Her escort is RJ McCoy.

Jackson attends Clarke Community High School. Her high school activities include the FFA president for 2016-17 and ETS.

Her special awards include a chapter degree in FFA, Star Greenhand FFA, A-honor roll, cattle production placement proficiency and FFA sweetheart.

Her hobbies include fishing, working with cattle, working with her puppy, swimming and being outdoors.

Rachel LaRae Severns

Severns, 18, of Weldon is the daughter of David and Leann Severns. She is sponsored by Hy-Vee. Her escort is Dusty Willke.

Severns attended Clarke Community High School. Her high school activities include Osceola FFA chapter, National Honor Society, student council, Talented and Gifted program and volleyball.

Her other community activities include working at Hy-Vee and the Harvest Barn. She also completed more than 200 hours in community service through Silver Cord.

Severns’ special awards include state qualifying parliamentary procedure team in 2015 in FFA, second place at the state fair for FFA secretary’s book, volleyball coach’s award for dedication, Clarke Community High School’s 5% and being Clarke Community High School’s salutatorian.

Her hobbies include enjoying anything outside. She loves fishing, horseback riding, playing volleyball and traveling whenever she can.

Severns plans to attend the University of South Alabama in the fall and major in exercise science. This will help her to eventually receive her doctorate in physical therapy.

Brandi Gilbert

Gilbert, 17, of Osceola is the daughter of David and Sheryl Gilbert. Her escort is Seth Baumfalk.

Gilbert attends Murray High School. Her high school activities include volleyball, basketball, track, softball, FFA chapter president, band, Talented and Gifted program, National Honor Society, Spanish club, Future Nurses of America, fall play, spring musical, junior class vice president and student council.

Her other community activities include Murray Church of Christ youth group, Clarke County Organization of Philanthropic Services (CCOPS), Triple Troopers 4-H club and vacation Bible school volunteer.

Her special awards include first team all-conference, all-district and quad-best server in volleyball, defensive player of the year in basketball, first team all-conference extra infielder and honorable mention all-state in softball and 2015 star chapter member in FFA.

Her hobbies include reading and spending time with family and friends.

After graduation in the spring of 2017, Gilbert plans to attend Central College to major in Spanish and physical therapy.
