Economic development in Iowa

Just before Memorial Day, the Governor signed HF 2455, the Economic Development Appropriations bill into law without item vetoing any part of it.

For the most part, the budget matched the governor’s numbers, which strongly resembled FY 2016 estimates.

The bill appropriates $43.1 million from the State’s general fund and authorizes 562.2 FTEs to the Department of Cultural Affairs, Iowa Economic Development Authority, Iowa Finance Authority, Public Employment Relations Board and Iowa Workforce Development for FY 2017.

It represents a decrease of $696,763 in funding and a decrease of 19.98 FTE positions compared to FY 2016.
