Webb selected as college marshal

AMES — Joe Webb of Murray will lead the student processional as the college marshal at the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences convocation ceremony.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be named the College of Human Sciences Marshal and I would like to express my gratitude to represent our college,” he said. “Receiving this honor is really a reflection of those who have supported me throughout my college career and it indicates that many people here at Iowa State have helped me to get to where I am today.”

Webb is graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in nutritional science and minors in Spanish and genetics.

Webb was a teaching assistant for three courses, including the President’s Leadership Class. He earned the Wallace E. Barron award, Iowa State’s highest honor for a senior.

He founded Gamma Sigma Alpha, a Greek honor society, and also showed leadership as president of Acacia Fraternity, vice president of scholarship in the Interfraternity Council, and member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council.

Next fall, he will pursue his doctorate in Iowa State’s interdepartmental graduate program in nutritional science.

Webb will be recognized for his achievements at the college’s convocation celebration 2 p.m., May 6, at Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa State University campus. Iowa State University’s spring 2016 commencement ceremony will be held 1:30 p.m., May 7, at Hilton Coliseum.
