Osceola FFA chapter receives second at state

AMES – Iowa FFA Association is a youth organization of more than 14,800 student members as part of 226 local FFA chapters across Iowa.

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Iowa FFA Secretary’s Book Leadership Event was held at Iowa State University in Ames Monday, April 18.

The top 12 chapters from around the state competed for the coveted gold metal placing.

Osceola FFA chapter was excited as Rachel Severns was announced as the second place winner for this contest.

“Standing on stage, in front of thousands of people, representing my chapter with the first secretary’s book to place at state, was a truly amazing feeling. I cannot wait to see future secretaries use this as a resource and spring board for their journey as our Chapter Secretary,” Severns said.

The secretary’s book CDE requires the chapter secretary to keep complete and accurate records of the chapter’s activities. Chapter secretaries must include the chapter FFA roster, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, committee reports, and copies of all chapter correspondence.

The Iowa FFA secretary’s book CDE was made possible with support from the Iowa FFA Foundation.
