Joyce Roshto Osceola

Joyce Roshto, 78, of Corning, formerly of Osceola, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., in Creston. The Rev. James Sheesley of Osceola officiated. Interment was in Guss Cemetery near Gravity in Taylor County. Open visitation with family present was from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Joyce Marie Roshto, daughter of Joseph Melvin and Sally Lee (Simpson) Hazel, was born May 4, 1937, in Columbus, Mississippi.

On Dec. 24, 1955, Joyce married James “Jimmy” Roshto Sr. in Woodville, Mississippi. Joyce was a homemaker until all of her children were raised. She worked outside the home gathering eggs in a chicken house in Mena, Arkansas. Joyce and Jimmy lived in many different places over the years. They moved from Arkansas to Nodaway where they lived for 10 years. They lived in Osceola for about two years, and Joyce has lived in Corning the past three months.

Joyce was affiliated with Osceola Full Gospel Church.

Joyce is survived by her children, Eva (Maurice) Austin of Osceola, Liz Brassfield of Bono, Arkansas, Garie Holland of Osceola, James (Heather) Roshto, Jr. of Villisca, Deanne (Jeff) Stacy of Huntsville, Arkansas, David (Amber) Roshto of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Maurice (Kim) Roshto of Wesley, Arkansas, Joe (Jennifer) Roshto of Bono, Arkansas, and Brandon (Brittney) Roshto of New Albany, Mississippi; several grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother Gene (Mary) Hazel of Newellton, Louisiana; sister Frances Tapley of Natchez, Mississippi; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy in July 2015; son James Anthony Roshto; parents; four sisters; two brothers and brother-in-law Doyle Tapley.
