Talent Search Freshmen Day at Southwestern

CRESTON — High school freshmen who participate in the Educational Talent Search (ETS) program will have the opportunity to take part in an overnight campus visit Tuesday, May 10, at the Southwestern Community College Creston campus.

Space is limited to the first 20 participants.

ETS students will spend the night in the new Spartan Court residence hall, sit in on college classes, take a campus tour and sit in on a financial aid and admissions presentation.

The goal of this event is to acquaint ETS freshmen with college life. Statistics show that the earlier students are exposed to a college campus, the more likely they are to attend college.

The deadline for registration is Friday, May 6. Students may sign up through their local school’s ETS advisor or by calling 800-247-4023, ext. 392, or 641-782-1392.

High schools in Area 14 participating in the ETS program include Clarke, Murray, East Union, Creston, Orient-Macksburg, Lenox, Southwest Valley and Bedford. Dinner will be provided for all who attend.

TRIO Educational Talent Search is 100 percent federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education. More than 800 students are served by Area 14’s ETS program. The office is located on SWCC’s Creston campus.
