Louella DeLong Osceola

Louella Pearl DeLong, 79, of Osceola died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016.

Services were held 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Mike Albert officiating. Visitation with family present was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. Louella Pearl DeLong, daughter of Albert John Lampe and Mary Ella (Lake) Lampe, was born March 15, 1936, in Prairie Hill, Missouri. She received her education in Keytesville, Missouri.

On Feb. 19, 1955, Lou married Richard “Shorty” Max DeLong at the Christian Church parsonage in Osceola. Lou has lived most of her life in the Osceola area except a period from 1994-2002 when she lived in Texas. Over the years, she worked as a waitress in Osceola, at Snowdon’s and a great number of years working at Miller Products in Osceola. While she was in Texas, she worked at Kroger Supermarket.

Lou was a charter member of the Osceola Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 3495.

Lou is survived by her son Donald Lee (Darlene) DeLong of Dayton, Texas; daughter Diana Lynn (Kenneth) Erwin of Truro; daughter Rita Kay DeLong of Osceola; son Ronald Dale (Christine) DeLong of Phillipsburg, Kansas; grandchildren, Heather Michelle (Brian) Silcox of Baytown, Texas, Adrian Elliot (Iris) DeLong of Houston, Texas, Shanna Lynn (Willis) Adcock of Ottumwa, Travis Wade (Crystal) Erwin of Davis City and Addison Richard Rudlof DeLong of Johnston; great-grandchildren, Liam Elliot DeLong, Tristen McKenzie Wade Hastings, Travis Wade Erwin, Jr., Tempest Dawn Erwin and Shyla Lynn Adcock; sisters-in-law, Ruth Lampe of Winterset, Marianne Lampe of Grinnell, Helen Lampe of Salsbury, Missouri, and Dixie Binns of Osceola; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard “Shorty;” sisters, Evelyn Lampe, Leona Crumbaugh and Nina Mills; brothers, Raymond “Bud” Lampe, Gharold Lampe, George Lampe, Lavern Lampe, Wayne Lampe and Clifford Clarence Lampe and nephew Clarence Mills.
