Osceola Foods GM appointed as city’s reservoir commission representative

While the people appointed to the city’s new boards are definitely qualified, there was one appointment that stood out among the rest.

For the city representative on Clarke County Reservoir Commission (CCRC), new Osceola mayor Thomas Kedley appointed Clint Walters, general manager of Osceola Foods, to take former Mayor Fred Diehl’s seat on the commission.

“I felt Clint would be a great person to serve on that board because Osceola Foods, it’s the largest industry in Osceola — Clarke County, really. And, they use a lot of water. Water is a huge concern to industry around here,” Kedley said. “I’ve talked to Clint for hours about the reservoir commission, and I felt he was a quality appointment.”

CCRC is in the process of building a new reservoir in northern Clarke County. The commission has monthly meetings, which are typically every third Thursday at 9 a.m. at Clarke County Development Corporation.

The alternate is Ty Wheeler, city administrator/clerk, to take Charlie Morgan’s seat.

Board appointments took place during the Jan. 5 Osceola City Council meeting. It was the first council meeting with the newly elected officials from the November council/mayoral elections.

“(In) Osceola, it’s just not the council members and myself sitting up here. It’s everybody. We need to work together and keep this place great,” Kedley said.

Other boards

The other city official appointments made were for Osceola Park and Recreation Board:

• Eric Zoske (two-year term) to take Sara Lumsden’s seat

• Jorge Avalos (two-year term) to take Sarah Truitt’s seat

• Lindsay Diehl (two-year term) to take Stephanie Snell’s seat

Kedley also appointed Councilman Dr. George Fotiadis as mayor pro tem, in the case he is unavailable to be at meetings or other functions.

“People serving on boards and things like that, we’re all just trying to keep Osceola great. Thank you for that,” Kedley said.
