Farmers market workshop to be held in Creston

CRESTON — Southern Iowa Local Foods Initiative, under the umbrella of Southern Iowa Resource Conservation and Development, will host a free Farmers’ Market Workshop: Keys to Operating a Successful Market, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at A&G Steakhouse and Lounge, 211 W. Adams Street in Creston.

This workshop is suited for aspiring and current farmers’ market vendors and managers.

Creston Farmers’ Market manager Brian Zachary will discuss keys to operating a successful market.

Organic farmer Dale Raasch from Bridgewater Farm will talk about successfully growing and selling produce, meat and eggs at a variety of farmers’ markets in southern Iowa.

Alexi Groumoutis, local foods coordinator from Southern Iowa Local Foods Initiative will discuss best marketing practices at farmers’ markets.
