Jeanie Evans West Des Moines

Eugenia Catherine Evans, 88, of West Des Moines died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services were 11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 1, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola, with the Rev. Rick Robinson officiating. The family greeted friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Van Wert Cemetery. Eugenia Catherine Evans, daughter of Roscoe Scott and Helen (Jones) Scott, was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Osceola.

Jeanie received her education in country schools and graduated from Leroy High School. She continued her college training at Cedar Falls, Greeley, Colorado and Drake University in Des Moines.

On June 20, 1954, Jeanie married Max Milton Evans on the family farm near Weldon. They made their home in Weldon for over 32 years before moving to Osceola in June 1991.

Jeanie taught in Adel, Grundy Center, Fort Dodge and Modesto, California. She retired in May 1989 after 31 years, with 25 years at Central Decatur Community Schools in Leon.

Jeanie is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Evans of New Virginia and Nancy (Randle) Boyd of West Des Moines; granddaughter Jessica (Steve) Walsh-Bannick of Adel; great-granddaughters, Kaylee Mogle and Ashley Bannick of Adel and other relatives and many friends.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Max Milton Evans; son Scott Evans; grandson Ryan Walsh; brother-in-law Raymond Evans and his wife Maxine.
