Cookout contest beef category winner

Even though more participants entered poultry or pork than any other category in Farm Bureau’s annual cookout contest, there was participation throughout the categories.

The beef participant was new this year – Courtney Siefkas. Her entry was a marinated steak. She mixed all the ingredients together, marinated the steak for eight hours then grilled it.

The marinade ingredients are as follows: ¼ C Worcestershire sauce, ½ C olive oil, 3 T soy sauce, 1 T minced onion, 1 T garlic powder, 1 T garlic pepper, 3 T steak seasoning and 1 T rosemary.

She was qualified to move on to the state fair competition Aug. 18, but was unable to attend.
