Adult team winner at local cookout contest

A family who does the cookout contest together has fun together. The Pollard family (Tim, Julie, Hannah and Haley) did just that.

They entered as a team with a theme – and dressed the part. They grilled a pineapple seasoned pork loin and wore their hula skirts, bright shirts and leis.

Following is the recipe they took on to state level.

Pineapple seasoned pork loin:

Two C brown sugar seasoning (two oz. garlic salt, 5# sugar, 2# brown sugar, 4.5 oz. accent seasoning, Four pkg. Sloppy Joe powdered mix, three oz. paprika, two oz. black pepper)

Two C pineapple juice

Mix brown sugar seasoning with pineapple juice. Inject mixture into pork loin, then put some brown sugar seasoning on top of loin. Wrap in foil and refrigerate 24 hours. Smoke for three to four hours at 225 degrees until meat reaches 150 degrees.
