Party in the Park planned Sept. 12

The third annual Party in the Park takes place this Saturday evening, Sept. 12.

Party in the Park is community event sponsored by LifePoint Church.

“This is the third year for Party in the Park and it just keeps getting bigger and better,” said Chuck DeVos, lead pastor at LifePoint. “This year it includes free food, ice cream, kettle-corn, volleyball, kids games, face painting, a kids bounce house, great music and more. We’ve invited the Clark High School FFA and FCCLA who are working with us to do something great for our community.”

When asked why a church would put on event like this free of charge for the entire community, DeVos answered, “Because we love our community, we want to be generous givers and we want people to see a church that doesn’t just ‘say’ it loves the community, but actually demonstrates it. Osceola is a great place to live and work and raise a family. We want people to know that it’s also a great place to go to church. There are many people who’ve been hurt by a church at some point in their life. LifePoint isn’t a perfect church, but we are a church that cares about people and about our community and we simply want to demonstrate that in a tangible way.”

Music this year comes from the Dysart Family singers. The Dysarts hail from Macon, Mo., and are signed with Crossroads Records, one of gospel music’s largest record labels, and tour nationwide. The Dysart Family sings southern gospel music with close family harmonies and a diverse and powerful selection of music.

Party in the Park starts at 5 p.m., Sept. 12, and takes place on the Osceola square. For more information about Party in the Park, contact LifePoint Church at 641-342-2334.
