“I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Carson and his lovely wife, Rose, the day after he announced his candidacy,” said Chuck DeVos, lead pastor at LifePoint. “As we talked, it wasn’t his words I heard as much as it was his heart. Our brief time together made a deep impression on me, not only as a presidential candidate, but as a man with deep convictions, integrity and immense character. I look forward to hearing his story on Aug. 9.”

Dr. Carson’s life story is depicted in a book and a Sony Pictures film, both titled, “Gifted Hands.”

In “Gifted Hands,” he tells of his odyssey from his childhood in inner-city Detroit to his position as director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital at age 33. Dr. Carson is a role model for anyone who attempts the seemingly impossible.
