Interstate 35 21, East Union 2

AFTON — Leading 10-2 going into the seventh inning, Interstate 35 exploded for 11 runs in the seventh for a 21-2 win over East Union here Friday.

Levi Sandquist picked up the win on the mound, pitching four innings and giving up no runs on three hits with with four strikeouts. Darian Brown pitched three innings of relief, giving up two runs on two hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

Brock Bush finished 4-for-5 in the game out of the leadoff spot with two runs scored, a triple and three RBI.

Junior first baseman Garrett Garner was 2-5 with a double and three RBI. Elijah Smith hit a double and drove in two runs. Sandquist doubled and tripled, driving home two runs. Brown also finished with one RBI.

Dylan Kernes, Cole Daniels, Dominic Cresta, Austin Kindley, Wyatt Schultz, Lucas Ealy, Nathan Phillips and Austin Beener each drove in one run for the Roadrunners.

As a team, Interstate 35 drew 10 walks and hit seven extra base hits.

Twin Cedars 9, Murray 0

BUSSEY — Murray fell to defending state champion Twin Cedars here on July 2, 9-0.

The Mustangs managed just two hits in the game, as Braydon Held hit a double and Bryce Keller singled.

Kenny Boles took the loss, pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up nine runs on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Only one run was earned. Held pitched the final 1/3 of an inning for the Mustangs.
