Clarke County Fair Queen candidates announced

These are the candidates for Clarke County Fair queen. They are listed in alphabetical order.

Clarke County Fair is scheduled from July 14-20.

Kaitlyn Boyer

Kaitlyn Boyer, 17, of Weldon is the daughter of Jason and Amy Boyer. She is sponsored by Osceola Big Chief FFA chapter and attends Clarke Community High School.

Her high school activities include being an Osceola Big Chief FFA chapter officer, National Honor Society, junior and senior class officer, student council, talented and gifted program, 4-H livestock judging team and KW Hustlers 4-H club.

Her other community activities include being the South Central District FFA vice president, World Food Prize Youth Institute member and presenter.

Her special awards include Mateer award of excellence in achievement, Wendell Butler Outstanding Herdsman award, South Dakota State University champion livestock judging team, Iowa Beef Expo second high individual overall in livestock judging, Osceola FFA sweetheart, beef proficiency award, greenhand and chapter FFA degrees, Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation three bred heifer program recipient, various livestock judging contest and Northwest Missouri State University livestock judging contest first overall.

She is planning on going to Kansas State University or Iowa State University and majoring in animal science with a master’s degree in agricultural business. Her passion is beef production and she plans to continue raising purebred Limousin cattle.

Her hobbies include showing and working with her cattle. She loves looking at the genetics of her cattle and analyzing performance data to improve her herd. She also enjoys livestock judging, being an active member of her FFA chapter, photography and encouraging younger members to get involved with livestock.

Carter Cooley

Carter Cooley, 18, of Osceola is the daughter of Natalie Cooley and Joe Cooley. She is sponsored by Osceola Go-Getters and attends Clarke Community High School.

Her high school activities include three years of football cheerleading, two years of wrestling cheerleading, FFA, Silver Cord and National Honor Society.

Her other community activities include 4-H, SCI Energizer and being a junior tumbling coach.

Her special awards include being a high school graduate, Silver Cord volunteer honors, National Honor Society member, football cheer captain, SAE award, academic letters (higher than 3.5 grade point average) and more than $3,000 in school scholarships.

She is planning to attend Southwestern Community College in Creston to major in animal science, agricultural science and agricultural business.

Her hobbies include art, showing livestock at Clarke County Fair, Iowa State Fair and Aksarben and helping coach a tumbling team.

Rileigh Hiatt

Rileigh Hiatt, 16, of Murray is the daughter of Todd and Laura Hiatt. She is sponsored by Triple Troopers 4-H and Clarke County 4-H cooking club. She attends Murray High School.

Her high school activities include art club, band (concert, marching and pep bands), choir (solo, ensemble and large group), drama club, Murray musical, robotics and Murray engineering club.

Her other community activities include Triple Troopers 4-H club, Clarke County 4-H youth council, 4-H cooking club, 4-H dog training, Murray United Methodist Church youth representative and worship on Wednesday.

Her special awards include Diakonos to United Methodist annual conference 2015, Murray school bronze chord for community service, scholarship to attend 2014 state 4-H conference, Mateer award of excellence, Clarke County 4-H scholarship for project, letter for choir and speech contest awards.

She recently began working at Fareway stores in Osceola and plans to train her dog as a certified therapy dog.

Her hobbies include spending her extra time being creative taking photographs and doing artwork.

Sadie Schneiders

Sadie Schneiders, 16, of Truro is the daughter of Rachel and Ryan Phillips. She is sponsored by Osceola Go-Getters and attends Interstate 35 High School.

Her high school activities include Interstate 35 dance team, varsity football cheerleading, track and Interstate 35 FFA.

Her other community activities include Osceola Go-Getters 4-H club and Devine Dancers competition dance team.

Her special awards include an academic letter award, making All Iowa dance team 2015, division I rating state dance solos in December 2014, varsity letter in cheerleading, dance team and track.

She enjoys attending a variety of dance workshops throughout the year learning different styles of dance. When she graduates in 2017, she plans to attend Iowa State University and major in dance/performing arts.

Her hobbies include dance, riding 4-wheelers, taking care of sheep and running.

Anna Sereg

Anna Sereg, 16, of Woodburn is the daughter of Pamela Sereg and David Sereg. She is sponsored by Merrill Axle and attends Clarke Community High School.

Her high school activities include jazz band, marching band, National Art Honor Society and FFA.

Her other community activities include 4-H and 4-H youth council.

Her special awards include a supervised agricultural experience proficiency award, youth art month award and National Art Honor Society award.

She said she is an outgoing and down-to-earth girl. She likes to make people happy and wants people to feel wanted.

Her hobbies include hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, reading, being a photographer and an artist. She paints, draws and takes pictures.
