Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 4:10 p.m. May 14 at the intersection of Highway 69 and Miami Street.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Jessie-Lynn Rose Longoria, 18, of Osceola, driving a 2003 Chevrolet, lost control of the vehicle in the curves of the road and entered into oncoming traffic. Longoria attempted to correct the vehicle, but she over-corrected and lost control completely because of wet pavement. The vehicle entered the west ditch and rolled over.

Longoria was transported to Clarke County Hospital with complaints of back, neck and ankle pain.

Damage estimate is $5,000 to the vehicle owned by Darlene Kay Oliver.

Carl Wayne Utley, 20, of Osceola was charged with failure to maintain control and driving while suspended after an accident 2:24 a.m. May 9 at the intersection of 270th Avenue and Idaho Street. Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated charges are pending in the incident.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Utley was involved in a police pursuit. In an attempt to elude law enforcement, he was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve in the road on 270th Avenue. The vehicle entered the north ditch, rolled several times and came to a stop on its passenger side.

The vehicle owned by Melissa Jean Beach was considered a total loss with a damage estimate of $6,000.
